Dr Matee
Qualified in medicine at the University of London in 2009, after a BSc at King's College London. Early surgical experience came through electives at Harvard Medical School and the Trauma Centre in Dubai, then training at Queen's Medical Centre Nottingham, the John Radcliffe in Oxford and the Royal Hallamshire in Sheffield.
He founded the British Hair Clinic, completed advanced facial aesthetics training at the London School of Facial Aesthetics, and is now Surgical Director at KSL Clinic. He is a member of FUE Europe — and has had a hair transplant himself, which is why his consultations tend to be blunter than most.

What People Ask Before Booking
Does a hair transplant hurt?
The procedure is carried out under local anaesthetic, so you should not feel the extraction or the placement. The injections at the start are the uncomfortable part, and they last a few minutes. Soreness and tightness for two or three nights afterwards is normal.
How long until I see results?
Transplanted hairs shed at two to four weeks — expected, and not the graft failing. New growth starts at three to four months, becomes obvious around six, and reaches final density at twelve.
Will it look obvious?
That comes down to hairline design almost entirely. Too low or too straight is what makes a transplant readable at a glance. Dr Matee designs and agrees the hairline with you in person, planned around how it will look as you age.
Am I too young, or too far gone?
Both are real reasons to be turned down. Operating on someone whose loss is still progressing can leave a hairline stranded in front of a receding crown. And if the donor area cannot supply enough grafts, surgery will disappoint. You are told at consultation, not after paying.
Can you treat afro or curly hair?
Yes. Curly and afro hair curves beneath the skin as well as above it, so the punch has to follow that curve or the follicle is cut and lost. It is a different technical job from straight hair.
How much time off work will I need?
For desk-based work, three to five days. Visible redness usually settles within a week to ten days. Anything physical waits a minimum of two weeks, and you will be given a written schedule.
